Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born on March 26, 1991 also known professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female to be signed by J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. She dropped her debut EP with the label on October 21 2016 titled Pho where she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. The album was released in May 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading songs on the internet in 2012, after which she debuted her first mixtape, Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. The year 2014 saw her continue to release her music on the web including her self released single Bound. In July of 2015, she was featured on Omen's album Elephant Eyes featuring the track Sweat it Out. J. Cole asked her to be a part of his collaboration on Rihanna's reference. In the following period, she released music that circulated throughout Dreamville. On December 8th, that she'd joined Dreamville Records. On the record Revenge of the Dreamers II, she appeared on the song Backseat along with Cozz. She released Pho, her debut EP, on October 21 on the 21st of October in 2016. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening artist to J. Cole on his song Change in the year 2017 and was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018 she went on to appear on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang with Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018. A music video was launched in September. In November, she dropped two other singles, 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. In November 13, she released two more singles: No One and Pedigree. She appeared with Cole in the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby in the 16th of November, and dropped the song as a solo single for her debut album. The music video debuted on 20 February 2019 in conjunction with the song. Within a matter of a week the video had more than 3,000,000 views. In December of 2018, she was part of her From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
